During the latest air attack on Kyiv, which took place on the night of June 11, Russian forces first used a new type of kamikaze drone \u2014 a jet-powered UAV, likely a Geran-3.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by Defense Express.<\/a><\/p>\n

According to preliminary data, this is an analogue of the Iranian Shahed-238, but assembled in the Russian Federation using Iranian technologies and components.<\/p>\n

During the strike, Kyiv residents noticed an unusual whistle<\/strong> , not typical of the usual \u201cShaheeds\u201d. <\/p>\n

After one of the drones was shot down, a small jet engine<\/strong> was discovered, which confirmed the use of jet propulsion. <\/p>\n

In addition, an avionics panel<\/strong> similar to that used in the Shahed-136 and its Russian counterpart, the Geran-2, was found among the wreckage. <\/p>\n

These findings indicate a high probability that this is either a genuine Shahed-238 or a Russian modification<\/strong> created based on Iranian solutions \u2014 the same \u201cGeran-3\u201d, the production of which the Main Intelligence Directorate warned about back in February 2025. <\/p>\n

The Geran-3 is a faster and more difficult-to-destroy<\/strong> drone. It is estimated to have a speed of 550\u2013600 km\/h<\/strong> , making it difficult for air defense systems to operate. The Tolou-10\/13 engine, which is believed to be used in the new drone, is an unlicensed copy of the Czech PBS TJ100, indicating further technological adaptation of Iranian developments in Russia.<\/p>\n

This is the first documented case of the use of a new type of drone in Ukrainian cities<\/strong> , and its appearance is a signal for the adaptation of defense systems<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

Additional debris collection and analysis<\/strong> are currently underway to determine the exact modification of the drone. However, experts are already calling the attack a turning point in the evolution of the drone threat from the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n

We will remind,on the night of Wednesday, June 11, the Russian<\/a> occupation army massively attacked Kharkiv with strike drones, as a result of which two people were killed, another 54 were injured, including eight children. Later it became known that rescuers in Kharkiv continue search and rescue operations on the territory of the enterprise, which was damaged by Russian shelling on the night of June 7. As of June 11, the bodies of two deceased have been found.<\/a><\/p>\n
