Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia is negotiating with Ukraine solely as a tool to avoid increased sanctions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The president said<\/a> this in an interview with Bild.<\/p>\n

According to him, it is critically important for the Kremlin to create the impression of a supposedly “diplomatic process” in order, in particular, to show US President Donald Trump that “there is a diplomatic bridge between Ukraine and the Russian Federation.” Putin, according to Zelensky, can use this as a pretext for blackmail: “We are negotiating! If you impose sanctions, we will stop talking.”<\/p>\n

Zelensky called on the United States not to hesitate and to introduce tough sanctions against the Russian Federation now, because only real pressure will force Putin to agree to end the war. He emphasized that one of the main mistakes of the international sanctions policy was its belatedness: this is what gave Putin the opportunity to adapt the Russian economy.<\/p>\n

“Putin feels that his economy is suffering now. But he wants to buy even more time until strong sanctions are imposed,” Zelensky said.<\/p>\n

The president’s interview once again underlines that the Ukrainian leadership considers diplomatic signals from Moscow to be insincere and strategic, aimed at delaying time rather than finding peace.<\/p>\n

Recall that House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed his support for renewed efforts in Congress to impose sanctions on the Kremlin<\/a> over Russian President Vladimir Putin’s brutal war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

It is known that the desire to introduce sanctions against the Russian Federation is noticeably growing in the American Senate<\/a> . The bill, introducing restrictions against Russia, has gathered the support of more than 80 senators out of 100.<\/p>\n

As reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the United States of America is coordinating future sanctions against Russia with the European Union for the first time.<\/a><\/p>\n

By the way, American Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated that consideration of a bill on sanctions against Russia will begin in the near future.<\/a><\/p>\n
