The borscht index increased by 27% year-on-year, reaching UAH 196. This is UAH 26 cheaper than last month, when the dish cost UAH 222.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is evidenced<\/a> by product monitoring data from the Ukrainian Business Club.<\/p>\n

In particular, there has been a significant increase in meat prices. For example, beef has increased in price by 6% per month, to 336 UAH\/kg. Over the year, the price has fallen by 20%.<\/p>\n

Chicken meat showed a more rapid growth. So, fillet prices rose by 11% in a month, to 222 UAH\/kg, and by 39% in a year. Thighs \u2014 by 28% in a month, to 154 UAH\/kg, and by 39% in a year.<\/p>\n

However, the price of pork neck has not increased in a month – 330 UAH\/kg. However, a year ago it was 31% cheaper.<\/p>\n

“The significant increase in the price of chicken is partly explained by the increase in feed costs, while beef is becoming more expensive against the backdrop of limited supply,” the UCAB explained.<\/p>\n

The cost of onions reached 40 UAH\/kg, which is 33% more than last month and 32% more expensive than in 2024.<\/p>\n

Old potatoes on supermarket shelves have risen in price by an average of 10% \u2013 to 38 UAH\/kg. Over the year, their price has increased by +33%.<\/p>\n

However, the price of young cabbage fell by 66% in a month – to 25 UAH\/kg.<\/p>\n

Cucumber prices continue to decline – by 18% per month and on average cost 65 UAH\/kg, which is also 11% cheaper than last year.<\/p>\n

Tomatoes are holding steady at around UAH 99\/kg, but 12% more expensive than they were a year ago.<\/p>\n

Dairy products, sunflower oil, and chicken eggs demonstrate stable price dynamics. Most of them have slightly decreased in price.<\/p>\n

By the way, in Ukraine, chicken prices have increased by 7 percent since the beginning of 2025.<\/a> The price increase was caused by an increase in grain prices and bird flu in the EU.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that meat prices in Ukraine went up in May 2025.<\/a> According to updated data, the cost of both pork and chicken increased in almost all categories.<\/p>\n
