A bipartisan resolution has been registered in the US Congress, the purpose of which is to prohibit Donald Trump from attacking Iran.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Republican Congressman in the US House of Representatives Thomas Massie has joined forces with Democratic Congressmen, forming an atypical alliance.<\/p>\n

“The Constitution does not allow the executive branch to unilaterally commit an act of war,” Massie said.<\/p>\n

The congressman added that it is the US Parliament that has the exclusive right to declare war on Iran, but “the war between Israel and Iran is not our war.”<\/p>\n

Massie stressed that, “even if that were the case, Congress must decide on the issue of war” according to the Constitution.<\/p>\n

Democrat Ro Khanna said that “it is time for every member of Congress to clearly decide whether they support the neocons who dragged us into the war in Iraq or stand on the side of the American people.” He emphasized that the resolution is binding if passed by the House.<\/p>\n

The resolution echoes a warning issued earlier by Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders, who said Trump’s decision to strike Iran would be a violation of the constitution.<\/p>\n

Recall that on the night of Friday, June 13, the Israeli army launched a large-scale operation against Iran and massively attacked nuclear and military facilities.<\/a><\/p>\n

Subsequently, US President Donald Trump sharply escalated his rhetoric towards Iran, demanding its \u201cunconditional surrender\u201d<\/a> and declaring full United States control over the country\u2019s airspace.<\/p>\n
