On Wednesday, June 18, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the reform of the National Agency of Ukraine for the Identification, Tracing and Management of Assets Obtained from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA).<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of parliament from the Holos party.<\/p>\n

“No. 12374-d \u2014 ARMA reform adopted in its entirety,” the post says.<\/p>\n

As the People’s Deputy notes, a total of 253 people’s deputies voted for the law on amendments to certain laws on strengthening the institutional capacity of the National Agency of Ukraine for the Identification, Search and Management of Assets Obtained from Corruption and Other Crimes, and improving asset management mechanisms.<\/p>\n

The law provides that the procedure for selecting the head of ARMA will be carried out with the participation of international experts, a transparent mechanism for managing ARMA, and control over the transfer of assets.<\/p>\n

Zheleznyak reminded that this law is a European integration law and after its adoption, “600 million euros from the EU will be unblocked.”<\/p>\n

Recall that according to an investigation published by Ukrainska Pravda on June 4, the National Agency for the Management of Arrested Assets (ARMA) transferred the management of the Trade Union Building in the center of the capital to a private company<\/a> that has ties to Mykhailo Stefanishyn, the former husband of Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefanishyna.<\/p>\n

As reported, People’s Deputy, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy Anastasia Radina stated that the Head of the Assets Tracing and Management Agency (ARMA) Olena Duma publicly stated that in 2024 the state’s income from the management of seized assets amounted to 12.3 billion hryvnias<\/a> . However, the real amount is at least six times less – about 2.1 billion hryvnias.<\/p>\n
