This decision was made as a result of the head of state&#8217;s deep disappointment over the failure of a personal meeting with Donald Trump at the G7 summit in Canada, as well as the failure of key agreements, in particular on military aid and sanctions against Russia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This is reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/jun\/17\/g7-trump-zelenskyy-meeting-ukraine\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Guardian<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p> It is noted that US President Donald Trump left the G7 summit in Canada a day before the scheduled meeting with Zelensky, explaining his decision by the need to focus on the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.<\/p>\n<p> The move, which put an end to personal dialogue between the two leaders, caused frustration among the Ukrainian delegation. Some diplomats even called the situation &#8220;humiliating,&#8221; given the Ukrainian president&#8217;s 8,000-kilometer flight.<\/p>\n<p> The US also vetoed a joint G7 statement on Ukraine, believing its rhetoric was too &#8220;anti-Russian&#8221; and could harm talks with Putin. Instead, the issue of Ukraine was mentioned in the closing remarks of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.<\/p>\n<p> Ukraine had hoped to receive new military aid packages from the United States, including air defense systems worth up to $50 billion.
