The US Senate has postponed the implementation of tougher sanctions against Russia until at least July, citing the conflict between Iran and Israel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Instead of imposing sanctions, Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal are working on a new version of the sanctions, which includes technical amendments, including the absence of restrictions on Ukraine’s allies.<\/p>\n

Senate Majority Leader John Thune said the “July deadline” now looks like the most likely time to return to the bill.<\/p>\n

“We are open to negotiations and are trying to coordinate with the administration regarding deadlines,” he noted.<\/p>\n

Senator Graham, for his part, said that “the Senate will have to wait a little while” with sanctions against Russia, without specifying specific dates.<\/p>\n

“Iran is in the spotlight now. This does not mean that I have forgotten about Russia or Ukraine. Not at all. But the situation with Iran is changing very quickly,” he added.<\/p>\n
