Due to Russian attacks on gas production facilities, Ukraine will be forced to increase gas imports from abroad.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by<\/a> the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko during the government’s question hour.<\/p>\n

He noted that the situation with gas storage facilities is “very difficult.” In 2025, Ukraine plans to import much more gas.<\/p>\n

Galushchenko noted that contracts for the supply of almost 3 billion cubic meters of gas have already been signed. He assured that there will be no gas shortage in Ukraine, and Ukrainians will not freeze.<\/p>\n

“We will definitely be provided with gas in the necessary volume, including for electricity generation, if it is necessary to increase gas-fired generation,” the minister noted.<\/p>\n

Galushchenko also reported that 2.6 million tons of coal have already been accumulated in Ukraine’s warehouses. This amount will be enough to last through the heating season.<\/p>\n

“Nuclear generation will remain a key element of the energy balance in winter. During peak hours, it generates up to 60% of electricity. The repair campaign is planned so that nine power units operate at full capacity throughout the heating season, as was the case in previous years,” the Minister of Energy noted.<\/p>\n

Galushchenko paid special attention to the situation with thermal generation, which was hit by the Russians.<\/p>\n

About 10 gigawatts of capacity were lost from March 2024 to March 2025. It is known that 6 GW has already been restored.<\/p>\n

Earlier it became known that Ukraine will begin regular imports of American liquefied gas from June<\/a> .<\/p>\n
