After the US Air Force strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, the situation in the Middle East has sharply escalated. Although official Tehran has so far limited itself to missile attacks on Israel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

CNN<\/a> journalists predicted six possible scenarios in which Iran could respond to Washington.<\/p>\n

Analysts warn that the world is facing another wave of instability that could affect not only the region, but also global markets and security systems.<\/p>\n

Attacks on American bases in the Middle East<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Iran may order its allies \u2014 in particular, Shiite groups in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen \u2014 to carry out attacks on US military targets.<\/p>\n

There are 19 US bases in the Middle East, and at least eight are estimated to have a permanent troop presence. The scenario includes the possibility of new attacks by Yemeni Houthis on US ships in the Red Sea.<\/p>\n

Blockade of the Strait of Hormuz<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Iran has already received parliamentary approval to close the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route through which up to 20 million barrels of oil pass daily.<\/p>\n

If the decision is approved by the Supreme National Security Council and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the global energy system could suffer a serious blow and oil prices could rise sharply.<\/p>\n

Accelerating the nuclear program<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Tehran may finally withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and officially embark on a course to create a nuclear bomb. Some experts believe that even in the event of a regime change in Iran, the new government will also be interested in nuclear deterrence. A likely step would be to withdraw enriched uranium to secret facilities and abandon international monitoring.<\/p>\n

Prolonged missile exchanges with Israel<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Tehran’s first response to the US strikes was to shell Israeli territory. Iran may choose the tactic of war “through a proxy”, trying to avoid a direct confrontation with the US while at the same time drawing Israel into a debilitating conflict. This approach will allow Iran to “save face” and at the same time avoid a large-scale escalation.<\/p>\n

Cyberattacks and terrorist acts<\/strong><\/h3>\n

One of the least visible, but no less dangerous scenarios is the organization of cyberattacks on US infrastructure or terrorist attacks outside Iran.<\/p>\n

Analysts believe the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is already conducting reconnaissance for such actions, looking for vulnerabilities. Particular attention may be paid to banking, transportation and military systems.<\/p>\n

Resumption of nuclear talks (with conditions)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Although official Tehran sharply criticizes the US for the strikes and refuses diplomacy, certain sources do not rule out a return to negotiations, but only on their own terms.<\/p>\n

The Geneva meetings that preceded the strikes had given promising signals, but now the talks are on hold. Iran could return to dialogue after a show of force to cement its position.<\/p>\n

As is known, on June 13, Israel launched a large-scale air strike on the territory of Iran<\/a> . The targets were facilities related to the Iranian nuclear program. As a result of the air strike on Tehran , more than 70 people died, including at least 20 high-ranking military personnel<\/a> .<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the United States Air Force attacked Iran’s nuclear infrastructure<\/a> , including the most protected facility in Fordow. Later, Pentagon chief Pete Haggett said that the United States’ strikes had destroyed Iran’s nuclear program<\/a> .<\/p>\n
