The fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, speaking at the Lviv Regional Council, stated that the most important task is the defense and preservation of the state. Therefore, financing the defense industry and transitioning the economy to military rails is the first priority. No less important is the preservation and strengthening of international support, as well as the preservation of democracy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the press service of “European Solidarity”<\/a> .<\/p>\n

“Today, we face a number of very important tasks. The first task is the defense of the state. For us, this is the number one issue today. It is no longer about instant victory, but about preserving the existence of Ukraine. Because the very existence of the country is under threat. If we stick together, Ukraine will stand. If we succumb to the provocations of the scoundrels who have put a trident on their chests, Ukraine will be destroyed,” Poroshenko said.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that it is fundamentally important to maintain unity at this time.<\/p>\n

“That is why it is fundamentally important for us that the financing and provision of the Armed Forces of Ukraine be our first priority. Not a “single marathon” where lies are spread using taxpayers’ money, including my money. Not a “warm bath” of the authorities, which takes away 200 billion hryvnias, including local money, and deprives the army of weapons,” he noted.<\/p>\n

Poroshenko added that financing the defense industry and transitioning the economy to military tracks, when nothing could be more important than financing the army, is the first priority.<\/p>\n

The Fifth President of Ukraine emphasized that it is important to preserve and strengthen the international coalition in support of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“The issue is urgent, because today the NATO Summit begins in The Hague, where decisive decisions for Ukraine must be made: the decision to provide us with weapons, the need to hold the Ukraine-NATO Council at the level of heads of state and government, decisions on financing Ukraine, decisions on strengthening sanctions that will force Putin to stop the war,” he noted.<\/p>\n

Poroshenko emphasized that preserving democracy, freedom, and local self-government is equally important. He noted that the local self-government reform launched in 2014 has resolved the issue of ensuring real powers and financial capabilities of local self-government.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately, we are observing the curtailment of these reforms, these processes. Just like the curtailment of freedom and democracy. We have nothing against military censorship, but we will categorically not accept political censorship. We do not accept the persecution of the opposition for political reasons. We do not accept pressure on public organizations. We do not accept when a significant part of the powers of local self-government bodies are taken away. We are absolutely sure that the powerful voice of the local self-government system must be heard,” Poroshenko emphasized.<\/p>\n

The leader of European Solidarity also spoke about a number of demands of the faction in the Verkhovna Rada.<\/p>\n

“We must immediately adopt an appeal to the United States Congress to stop the destructive processes in Ukrainian-American relations that were initiated by the Oval Office disaster. A strategic partnership with the United States of America is a matter of survival for Ukraine. There is no alternative to this. For half a year, the Verkhovna Rada’s statement on cooperation with Congress has not been put to a vote. This is categorically not accepted, because the United States Congress determines the issues of funding, sanctions, and support, including military support,” Poroshenko said.<\/p>\n

The fifth president noted that it is also important to return to the brigades the personal income tax, which was withdrawn by the authorities from local governments.<\/p>\n

“The brigades will deal with the issues of securing and using taxpayers’ funds faster, more efficiently, more honestly and less corruptly. Transferring the economy to military rails means concentrating all the state’s financial resources on the defense and security sector. Returning to the question I raised about the transition of cooperation with America to lend-lease,” he called the following proposals of the “EU”.<\/p>\n

Poroshenko recalled that back in 2023 he spoke about the construction of fortifications.<\/p>\n

“Neither in the Sumy region, nor in the Pokrovsky direction, nor in others, to date, a dense, powerful line of defense has been built. Money was stolen. The implementation of our “Safe Soldier” program is to save soldiers. This means providing them with the necessary means of protection, providing them with the necessary weapons, and providing them with modern technologies,” Poroshenko noted.<\/p>\n

He showed respect for the fact that his team and family had already spent 7 billion of their own money to support the army at the beginning of the large-scale invasion.<\/p>\n

“And for investments in the defense industry, where we are developing the best means of countering enemy technical intelligence, electronic intelligence, and electronic warfare. This has already saved the lives of tens of thousands of our soldiers,” Poroshenko emphasized.<\/p>\n

He expressed his firm belief that Ukraine now needs unity, competence, professionalism, and patriotism.<\/p>\n

“This should be aimed at renewing the Ukrainian government, including through a change of government. A change of government is not replacing Shmyhal with Svyrydenko, because together they, the Prime Minister and the First Deputy Prime Minister, are responsible for all the problems that exist. But the creation of a real coalition government that will allow us to ensure peace, preserve Ukraine, and achieve the result that all Ukrainians so desire. Because there is no nation in the world that wants peace more than we, Ukrainians,” he concluded.<\/p>\n

By the way, the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, stated on the air of the “Politclub” program with Vitaliy Portnikov that the program of fortifications, redirection of personal income tax to military units, and transfer of the economy to military rails will make it possible to strengthen our defense.<\/a><\/p>\n

The day before, Petro Poroshenko stated that Ukraine must learn lessons from the situation in the Middle East<\/a> , because the Iranian model of behavior in negotiations was copied from Russia.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Petro Proshenko stated that the creation of a new government of national salvation and the transfer of the economy to military rails is what is now needed to overcome the situation threatening the country’s existence.<\/a><\/p>\n
