North Korea is actively preparing to expand military cooperation with Russia, having begun construction of the largest weapons production plant in its history.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to journalists, the new plant is being built near an existing military complex, but it will significantly exceed the previous facilities in size and capacity. Experts suggest that the main goal is to significantly increase arms exports to the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n

“Russian arms supplies have become an extremely important source of income for North Korea. Given Russia’s losses in the aviation sector, the Kremlin is likely to focus on ground-based missiles. North Korea is ready to provide such systems, including its short-range KN-23 missiles,” said Frederick Spohr, head of the Korean bureau of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.<\/p>\n

According to South Korea’s Ministry of Defense, North Korea has been operating at full capacity over the past year, producing millions of artillery shells \u2014 a significant portion of which have already been shipped to Russia.<\/p>\n

It is expected that with the launch of the new plant, supply volumes will increase even more, which will strengthen Moscow’s military potential in the war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Recall that in 2024, Russia received 9 million artillery shells and ammunition from North Korea, as well as 11,000 military personnel<\/a> to support the war against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As reported, while the international community is tightening sanctions against Russia, the Kremlin is finding new ways to circumvent isolation – through an alliance with one of the most totalitarian regimes in the world. North Korea is not only supplying Russia with missiles and soldiers for the war against Ukraine, but also sending massive numbers of labor migrants to Russia<\/a> . This process is taking place despite UN sanctions and against the backdrop of a massive labor shortage in Russia.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that while the international community is calling for peace, North Korea is actively profiting from Russia’s war against Ukraine. According to a recent report by the South Korean Institute for Defense Analysis (KIDA), North Korea’s participation in this aggression has already brought it over $20 billion in economic benefits.<\/a><\/p>\n
