In a bold move that reignites the impeachment debate, Texas Democrat Al Green has introduced a resolution accusing President Donald Trump of overstepping constitutional boundaries by ordering missile strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities without congressional approval.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Green’s resolution<\/a> alleges an “abuse of presidential power” and “the dismantling of American democracy through the unconstitutional usurpation of Congress’s right to declare war.” Under the U.S. Constitution, only Congress has the power to formally declare war, yet presidents of both parties have repeatedly acted without its authorization.<\/p>\n

“President Trump’s unilateral and unreasonable use of force without Congressional authorization constitutes an abuse of power, as the United States was not under an immediate threat of attack,”<\/strong> the resolution states.<\/p>\n

Green also cited the January 6, 2021, storming of the Capitol, Trump\u2019s hardline immigration policies, and his public criticism of judges as examples of authoritarian behavior.<\/p>\n

The Trump administration responded by asserting the president\u2019s actions were part of a broader “peace through strength” strategy. White House Press Secretary Taylor Rogers said the president\u2019s decision led to the destruction of Iran\u2019s nuclear infrastructure and the conflict ending with a ceasefire.<\/p>\n

Despite this, critics argue that taking military action without congressional consent sets a dangerous precedent. Trump, however, maintains that the United States does not seek a full-scale war, but merely compelled Iran to return to the negotiating table.<\/p>\n

This is not Congressman Al Green\u2019s first attempt to impeach Trump\u2014he has introduced similar resolutions multiple times throughout Trump\u2019s presidency.<\/p>\n

This time, his central argument is clear: “No president has the right to drag the country into war without the consent of the people\u2019s elected representatives.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBy the way, the first hundred days of Donald Trump’s presidency should be perceived as a kind of vaccine against rash decisions that have resulted in a collapse in the president’s ratings and even launched an impeachment process amid Americans’ dissatisfaction with the current economic situation.<\/a><\/p>\n

Subsequently, US President Donald Trump said that Republicans should expel from Congress the Democrats who filed impeachment motions against him.<\/a><\/p>\n
