German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that after lengthy discussions and blockages, the European Union will finally give the green light tomorrow, June 26, to implement the 18th package of sanctions against Russia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Merz stressed that EU sanctions alone are not enough to effectively pressure the Russian economy. That is why he called on the US to immediately join the new restrictions and strengthen the economic blockade of Russia.<\/p>\n

“We must increase the level of economic pressure on Moscow. The European Union is working on this, and tomorrow, finally, the 18th package of sanctions will be approved. But this is not enough – we need more active participation from the United States,” Merz said.<\/p>\n

According to him, economic levers are the most effective way to stop Russian aggression against Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“There is no military solution to this conflict,” the Chancellor added.<\/p>\n

Friedrich Merz said that he met with Donald Trump on the sidelines of the NATO summit and personally asked the US president to support new sanctions against Russia. Merz expects the US Senate to vote on the relevant bill, which includes new restrictions against Russia, in the coming days.<\/p>\n

The focus is on lowering the “ceiling” on Russian oil prices, new sanctions against banks, logistics companies, and digital infrastructure, as well as a complete blockade of technological imports, in particular semiconductors.<\/p>\n

After several weeks of delays caused by vetoes from Hungary and Slovakia, the new package will still be implemented. Sources in the European Commission confirm that a compromise has been reached, and the sanctions will come into force on June 26. The list of restrictions also includes a ban on the transit of a number of Russian goods through the EU and new rules on financial monitoring.<\/p>\n

Previously, American pastor Mark Burns, who is considered a spiritual advisor to US President Donald Trump, is convinced that the bill with new sanctions against Russia will be passed.<\/a><\/p>\n

The day before, United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States is not currently planning to impose new sanctions against Russia<\/a> , as it seeks to leave room for possible peace talks.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the US Senate has postponed the introduction of tougher sanctions against Russia until at least July<\/a> . The reason for the delay is the conflict between Iran and Israel.<\/p>\n

As reported, US President Donald Trump said at the G7 summit in Alberta, Canada, that he would not rush to impose new sanctions against Russia. The main reason is the high economic costs for the United States.<\/a><\/p>\n
