The National Guard of Ukraine has issued an official statement regarding the beating of Major Andriy Korinevich (call sign \u201cKorin\u201d) of the 12th Special Forces Brigade \u201cAzov\u201d, which occurred on June 13 in Ivano-Frankivsk. The incident received wide publicity, given that the attackers turned out to be other servicemen from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade (OSHB).<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the press service<\/a> of the National Guard of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“The National Guard of Ukraine condemns any unlawful actions, in particular against military personnel, regardless of their place of service, ranks, or affiliation to units. The situation that occurred on June 13, 2025 in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk, where an attack was carried out on an officer of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” Andriy Korinevych, is unacceptable,” the message said.<\/p>\n

It is noted that all those involved in the attack have already been identified, and investigations are ongoing. The Guardsmen emphasized the need for mutual respect between representatives of different military units, especially during a full-scale war, when there is only one enemy, and that is Russia.<\/p>\n

On June 25, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office officially notified the attackers of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine \u2014 \u201chooliganism committed by a group of persons with the use of weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n

As is known, on June 23, Major Korynevych publicly stated<\/a> that he was the victim of an organized attack<\/strong> : two men in balaclavas attacked him in broad daylight, beat him with telescopic batons, and used tear gas. As a result of the attack, he received bodily injuries.<\/p>\n

According to the military officer, the attackers were associated with the 3rd OSHB, which, he claims, has close ties to the commander of the 3rd Army Corps, Andriy Biletsky.<\/p>\n

Major of \u201cAzov\u201d Andriy Korynevych is one of the most famous special forces officers. He has been serving in the brigade since 2015, was captured and survived a terrorist attack in a colony in Olenivka. In 2023, he participated in a counteroffensive in the Orikhiv direction, and since May 2024 he has been recruiting in the Precarpathian region.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that a high-profile attack on a soldier of the Azov special forces assault brigade took place in the very center of Ivano-Frankivsk<\/a> . Two men, armed with a telescopic baton and tear gas, injured the soldier, after which they fled the scene.<\/p>\n
