The protesters were mainly students, joined by opposition representatives.

Clashes with the police occurred during the rally. Law enforcement officers detained several dozen people. There are also reports of injured police officers.

“Vucic’s opponents accuse him and his allies of links to organized crime, violence against competitors and restrictions on media freedom, which they deny,” the publication notes.

The Serbian president has previously refused to hold early elections. His party, the Serbian Progressive Party, currently controls 156 of the 250 seats in parliament. At the same time, Vucic has said that “foreign forces” are behind the protests.

As reported by the AP, after the official part of the protest ended, protesters began throwing eggs, bottles and other objects at police officers. Special forces did not allow people to pass to the central park, where Vucic’s supporters had previously set up their tents, creating a human shield near his headquarters.

“Elections are an obvious way out of the social crisis caused by the actions of the government, which undoubtedly contradicts the interests of its own people. Today, June 28, 2025, we declare the current government illegitimate,” said one of the protest participants.

At the end of the rally, the students called on everyone present to “take freedom into their own hands.”

As a reminder, on March 15, an anti-government rally called “15 for 15” took place in the capital of Serbia, Belgrade, sparked by last year’s disaster at the train station in the city of Novi Sad.

As reported, mass riots, initiated by opposition deputies, took place in the Serbian National Assembly on March 4. The session descended into chaos after the use of smoke bombs, the throwing of water at the Speaker of the Parliament, Ana Brnabić, and clashes between politicians.

By the way, Russia’s foreign intelligence service claims that Serbian defense enterprises, despite Belgrade’s officially declared neutrality, allegedly continue to supply ammunition to Ukraine.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

Mass protests have taken place in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, demanding the dissolution of the current parliament and early elections.
