The publication cites the example of a 16-year-old boy who was recruited via Telegram and forced to collect data on positions in Dnepr, transmitting coordinates for possible strikes.

According to the SBU, since the spring of 2024, more than 700 people involved in espionage, arson and explosions have been detained in Ukraine, including about 175 minors.

The problem has become so widespread that Ukrainian authorities have launched a nationwide campaign warning of the threat: messages are sent via text messages, posted on billboards and broadcast on trains, and special videos for teenagers explain how to avoid falling into the trap of Russian recruiters.

Most often, the occupiers contact young people through Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp and Viber, offering quick money or conducting “quests” similar to treasure hunts, which are popular among teenagers.

In June, the SBU reported that Russian agents had begun using a new tactic, posing as Ukrainian officials to trick or pressure children into carrying out sabotage and cyberattacks on behalf of Ukraine.

Let us recall that the Security Service counterintelligence prevented terrorist attacks that were supposed to take place in the Dnepropetrovsk and Lviv regions on the orders of the Russian special services.

As reported, two 18-year-old residents were detained in Rivne; they turned out to be agents of the Russian special services and attempted to commit a terrorist attack against Ukrainian police officers.

Also follow “Pryamy” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram and Instagram.

Russia is recruiting Ukrainian teenagers to spy, commit arson and plant explosives, using them to destabilize Ukraine from within.
