The war against Ukraine, sanctions, and increased spending on the military-industrial complex have led to rising prices for basic food products in Russia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported<\/a> by the Center for Countering Disinformation.<\/p>\n

“Last year, prices broke a nine-year record and continue to rise. Wheat bread rose in price by 14.6% last year, and in the first five months of this year \u2014 by another 6%,” the CPP noted.<\/p>\n

The Russian government plans to start regulating the price of bread to address this problem. However, producers predict that such measures will lead to bankruptcies of bread factories and a reduction in supply on Russian markets, which will further increase prices.<\/p>\n

It is noted that Russia also has problems with other basic products – prices for vegetables have increased sharply, especially potatoes, which the Russian Federation was forced to purchase from China and Mongolia.<\/p>\n

“All this indicates a growing systemic crisis in the agricultural sector of the Russian economy. The Russian authorities are imitating activities aimed at overcoming the signs of this crisis, but in reality the main task of the Russian authorities is to ensure the continuation of the war against Ukraine, including at the expense of ordinary Russians,” the CPR noted.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that ordinary Russians are massively defaulting on their credit card debts<\/a> . Payments on 8.3 million credit cards are overdue for more than three months.<\/p>\n
