This accounts for more than 10% of the country\u2019s pre-war economically active population.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"209\" data-end=\"424\">\u201cUkraine is currently facing a severe demographic crisis, marked by rapid population aging. The proportion of people aged 65 and over has risen from 12% in 1991 to 18% in 2021, reaching 22% in 2024,\u201d Marchak noted.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"426\" data-end=\"526\">She also added that Ukraine\u2019s working-age population has declined by 40% compared to pre-war levels.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"426\" data-end=\"526\">\n\t<div class=\"shortcode-wide-image\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/smw3rs-47c9fef32e43360c87648974e2bacd99.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Ministry of Social Policy\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<figcaption>Photo: Ministry of Social Policy<\/figcaption>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"426\" data-end=\"526\">\n<p data-start=\"706\" data-end=\"873\">Due to the challenges and threats posed by the prolonged war, demographers predict Ukraine\u2019s population could fall to 28.9 million by 2041 and 25.2 million by 2051.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"875\" data-end=\"1097\">\u201cDemographic changes are having a significant impact on the labor market.
