Language Ombudsman Taras Kremin was a very uncomfortable figure for Bankova, because even before the full-scale invasion, he harshly criticized the authorities’ position about “what difference does it make” and fundamentally defended the Ukrainian language, which is why they made a decision to dismiss him.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated<\/a> on the air of “Pryamoy” by Rostyslav Pavlenko, a people’s deputy from “European Solidarity”.<\/p>\n

“Taras Kremin was very inconvenient for those who said “what’s the difference”. His position was very significant in 2019-2021 – before the full-scale invasion and before it became mainstream to love the Ukrainian language and dislike Russian information influences. For three years, they tried to tell us about “what’s the difference, who has monuments and what language he speaks”. And all these years, Mr. Kremin has taken a very firm position on the implementation of the law on the protection of the Ukrainian language as the state language,” Pavlenko noted.<\/p>\n
