US House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries broke the record for the longest speech before a vote on Trump’s “great and beautiful” bill.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jeffries took advantage of a rule that allows party leaders in the lower house of Congress to speak for an unlimited amount of time.<\/p>\n

His speech lasted 8 hours and 45 minutes, 12 minutes longer than the previous record set in 2021 by Congressman Kevin McCarthy.<\/p>\n

During his speech, Jeffries criticized Trump’s “big and beautiful” bill, which would introduce many economic reforms in the United States. In particular, it would increase the national debt limit by $5 trillion.<\/p>\n
