The US government has paused another weapons shipment to Ukraine, citing concerns over potential depletion of its stockpiles. However, Pentagon analysis confirms that continuing support for Ukraine does not compromise the defense readiness of the US Armed Forces.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The temporary halt was initiated by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who is blocking arms supplies to Ukraine for the third time. The decision caused consternation at the State Department, among European allies, and drew criticism from both parties in the US Congress.<\/p>\n

Democrat Adam Smith harshly criticized the Pentagon’s position, calling fears of ammunition shortages unfounded: “Our stocks are no lower now than they were in 3.5 years of war.”<\/p>\n

The halt concerns a package of precision missile systems, including Patriot, GMLRS, Hellfire, and other weapons that could strengthen the defense of Ukrainian cities from Russian attacks.<\/p>\n

According to sources, the decision was supported by Undersecretary of Defense for Political Affairs Elbridge Colby, who advocates redirecting US resources to counter China in the Indo-Pacific region.<\/p>\n

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said: “We can’t supply weapons to everyone, everywhere.”<\/p>\n

At the same time, Ukraine insists on the immediate unblocking of aid, as the latest Russian strikes\u2014including the launch of more than 60 missiles and about 500 drones in the past week alone\u2014have become the most massive since the start of the full-scale invasion.
