Russia, amid deteriorating relations with Azerbaijan, began expanding its military presence in Armenia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This<\/span> was reported<\/span><\/a> by the Main Intelligence Directorate.<\/span><\/p>\n

As noted, the Kremlin has begun to rapidly staff its military base in Armenia in order to increase military-political pressure on the countries of the South Caucasus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Personnel are recruited from military personnel who served in the Rostov and Volgograd regions and temporarily occupied Crimea.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, the Russian authorities are trying to find volunteers in North Ossetia and Adygea.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe deployment of Russian troops in Armenia is an element of the Kremlin\u2019s comprehensive strategy aimed at destabilizing the global security situation. Along with the incitement of the interethnic conflict, Moscow is increasing its military presence in the Caucasus. It is likely that the deterioration of relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation was prepared in advance,\u201d said Andriy Yusov, a representative of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that earlier in Russia, raids were conducted on Azerbaijani citizens, during which almost 50 people from the diaspora were detained on suspicion of murder. The main suspects in the case – brothers Hussein and Ziyaddin Safarov – died shortly after their detention.<\/p>\n

In response, Azerbaijan canceled all cultural events<\/a> organized by Russian state and private institutions in protest against the deaths of two of its citizens.<\/p>\n
