In the Russian port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region, two explosions thundered on the tanker Eco Wizard, which was carrying ammonia. After the explosions, the vessel began to sink, and a large-scale ammonia leak was recorded at the site.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Transport and monitoring resources.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred during loading of ammonia at the terminal. The tanker rolled onto its left side, and the damage caused a leak of the hazardous substance.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The port’s emergency services are working to eliminate the consequences of the incident, the loading of ammonia has been stopped, and diving operations are planned.<\/p>\n

It is known that the tanker Eco Wizard sails under the flag of the Marshall Islands and is probably part of the so-called “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation, which is used to circumvent sanctions. The vessel arrived at the port of Ust-Luga from Belgium.<\/p>\n
