The United Kingdom and European Union countries have suspended initiatives to deploy their own military units in Ukraine. This move is related to the halt of US peace talks and Washington’s unwillingness to provide security guarantees for European militaries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the publication notes, “Britain and Europe have pushed aside plans to deploy thousands of troops to Ukraine as Trump’s attempts to negotiate an end to the war have failed. The coalition of the willing will focus future discussions on supporting Kyiv in a war of attrition… in a clear softening of the plans.”<\/p>\n

The next meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing” is scheduled for July 10 via video conference. It will be co-hosted by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, who is currently visiting London.<\/p>\n

During the event, Western partners intend to discuss not the military presence, but increased supplies of ammunition to Ukraine and the development of the local defense industry. Also in focus are the issues of restoring the energy sector and reconstructing post-war infrastructure, the Telegraph reports, citing a draft agenda.<\/p>\n

The decision to shift the emphasis to material support was made after the failure of US attempts to organize a ceasefire. In addition, the idea of deploying Western military personnel in Ukrainian cities, ports, and nuclear power plants has already undergone significant adjustments: currently, the bloc’s member states are discussing the return to Ukraine of exclusively training missions for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, France has taken the initiative to deploy peacekeeping forces in central Ukraine<\/a> , probably along the Dnieper River. This issue is being actively discussed within European military structures.<\/p>\n

As reported, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and his Estonian counterpart Hanno Pevkur stated that they do not rule out the possibility of sending a military contingent to Ukraine as part of a future peace agreement.<\/a><\/p>\n

At the same time , Canada is considering the possibility of participating in a peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine after the end of the war.<\/a><\/p>\n
