In Kyiv, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained two Chinese nationals accused of espionage. The individuals were allegedly attempting to obtain classified technical documentation related to Ukraine\u2019s \u201cNeptune\u201d cruise missile system.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated<\/a> by the press service of the SBU.<\/p>\n

Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained two citizens of the People\u2019s Republic of China in Kyiv, accusing them of attempting to illegally export classified documents related to Ukraine\u2019s RK-360MC Neptune<\/em> missile system.<\/p>\n

According to the SBU, one of the suspects is a former student at a Kyiv university who remained in Ukraine after ceasing his studies in 2023. The second detainee is his father, a Chinese national residing permanently in China, who periodically traveled to Kyiv to oversee and coordinate his son\u2019s espionage activities.<\/p>\n

In their efforts to obtain technical documentation on the Neptune<\/em> missile production process, the younger spy allegedly attempted to recruit a Ukrainian involved in the missile’s development.<\/p>\n

“The SBU intercepted the suspect at the early stages of his intelligence-gathering activities and detained him red-handed while he was handing over classified documents,” the agency stated. “Subsequently, his father was also apprehended as he prepared to transfer the stolen information to China\u2019s intelligence services.”<\/p>\n

The SBU emphasized that counterintelligence measures are ongoing to fully neutralize the threat and identify any additional individuals involved.<\/p>\n\t

Both detainees were informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 114, “Espionage”.<\/p>\n
