Inflation in Russia in the first week of July reached 0.79%, which was a record weekly increase since the spring of 2022 – when prices skyrocketed amid panic about the economic crisis and the devaluation of the ruble. During periods of active inflation acceleration at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, weekly growth did not exceed 0.5%.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is reported by<\/a> The Moscow Times, citing data from Rosstat.<\/p>\n

The main reason for this jump was the increase in utility tariffs, which traditionally occurs in the summer. Last year, in the same week, when tariffs were also adjusted, prices increased by 0.66%. This year, the Russian government set an average increase of 11.9%, but some regions raised tariffs much more. As a result, on average across the country, tariffs for cold water increased by almost 15%, sewage by more than 14%, and heating, hot water, liquefied gas and electricity by more than 13%.<\/p>\n

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development claims that, apart from tariffs, prices on the consumer market have remained stable. At the same time, analysts assess the impact of the tariff factor as key: it fully explains the overall level of inflation this week.<\/p>\n

Since last year’s “tariff week” showed lower figures, overall annual inflation has accelerated. According to estimates by the Russian Ministry of Economy, it reached 0.45%, while independent analysts say it is 9.5%. Since the beginning of 2025, prices in Russia have already increased by 4.58%, which is slightly less than last year’s figures, when the growth reached 5.06%.<\/p>\n

Recall that in Russia, due to the worsening prospects for an economic slowdown, mass confiscations of assets are being recorded.<\/a><\/p>\n

As reported, in the first half of 2025 , Russia’s budget deficit amounted to 3.69 trillion rubles (over $46.8 billion), which corresponds to 1.7% of GDP – the figure that the country’s government had forecast for the whole year.<\/a><\/p>\n

It is also known that by April 2026, if current economic trends continue , a banking collapse may occur in Russia.<\/a><\/p>\n

By the way, in the first half of 2025 , more than a third of working citizens of Russia faced a decrease in wages.<\/a><\/p>\n

In addition, Russia is experiencing an acute labor shortage in many sectors of the economy.<\/a><\/p>\n

At the same time, the Center for Countering Disinformation noted that problems continue to grow in the agro-industrial sector of the Russian economy. There is a threat of a shortage of late-harvest vegetables due to a lack of seeds.<\/a><\/p>\n
