President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially confirmed that he has offered the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine to current Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He wrote about this in Telegram<\/a> .<\/p>\n

According to the head of state, Shmyhal’s experience will be extremely useful for effective management of the defense sector – at a time when maximum resources and responsibility are concentrated there.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy reported that the proposal to appoint Denys Shmyhal as the new Minister of Defense has already been announced.<\/p>\n

“Denys Shmyhal’s colossal experience will definitely be useful in the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine – it is in this area that the country currently has the maximum resources, the maximum tasks, and a lot of responsibility,” the president emphasized.<\/p>\n

The Head of State added that he expects support for the new government configuration from the people’s deputies. He also stressed the importance of a rapid audit of all international agreements to understand which ones need updating or activation.<\/p>\n

As is known, this appointment is part of a broader personnel reform. Earlier, the president proposed that Economy Minister Yulia Svirydenko head the Cabinet of Ministers. It is expected that the new government’s action program will be presented in the near future.<\/p>\n

The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko to head the Cabinet of Ministers.<\/a><\/p>\n

Subsequently, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported that an official change of government is expected on July 16, in which Yulia Svyridenko will be nominated for the post of Prime Minister instead of Denys Shmyhal<\/a> . The changes will affect a number of ministries, including the defense, economic and social blocs.<\/p>\n
