The Patriot air defense system, which Germany plans to pay for transfer to Ukraine, is currently being finalized and will not be ready for at least 6-8 months.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Switzerland is moving further down the Patriot waiting list. The first unit will be delivered not in Bern but in Ukraine, and Germany will pay for it. However, the system is still being manufactured by the American defense company Raytheon and is not expected to be ready for at least six to eight months,” the journalists write.<\/p>\n

It is noted that Germany is considering the possibility of transferring another Patriot unit from the Bundeswehr stocks to Ukraine, replacing it with a new one from the American company Raytheon. But its production and delivery “will take years.”<\/p>\n

According to German government sources, the original plan was for the US to supply Ukraine with weapons from its stockpiles, with Germany covering the costs of the pre-order.<\/p>\n

However, US President Donald Trump insisted that the Pentagon “cannot give away any of its air defense capabilities” and that Europe must find air defense systems from its own stockpiles.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Europe lacks air defense systems, and negotiations about who can help Ukraine have been ongoing for several days.<\/p>\n

Thus, a maximum of three units are available for Germany’s own air defense. If another system is transferred to Ukraine, there will be two left.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the publication recalls that Germany is awaiting deliveries of Patriots ordered by the previous government. The first of these is due to arrive at the end of 2026, and the rest by 2029.<\/p>\n

Let us recall that US President Donald Trump announced that the first batches of Patriot anti-aircraft systems have already been sent to partner countries, which will subsequently transfer them to Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n
