An amendment that would have completely cut off funding was rejected by an overwhelming majority.

This was announced by Republican Congressman Don Bacon.

It is noted that today, July 19, the US House of Representatives voted against an amendment that would have completely banned the use of US budget funds for military assistance to Ukraine. The decision was supported by 353 congressmen, against – 76.

“This morning, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted to continue providing military support to Ukraine — 353 to 76,” said Don Bacon.

Amendment No. 116 to the US defense budget bill was initiated by Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene. She proposed to completely block any spending on supporting Ukraine. This initiative was actively supported by several isolationist Republicans, but the majority of congressmen — both Democrats and Republicans — opposed it.

Despite active discussions in the United States about the advisability of further support for Kyiv, Congress clearly demonstrated its position. The vote was another confirmation of the broad consensus in Washington on the need to assist Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

This decision is particularly important in light of recent Western media reports of a possible reduction in the supply of precision weapons, including ammunition for Patriot systems. The White House stated at the time that this was only a temporary reassessment of resources, not a change in policy.

Recall that military assistance from the United States is critically important for Ukraine’s defense capabilities – in particular, it concerns air defense systems, artillery, UAVs and other types of modern weapons. Continued funding allows the Ukrainian command to plan defense operations in the long term.

As a reminder, the US Department of Defense has notified Switzerland ofa delay in the delivery of Patriot air defense systems, as they will be sent to Ukraine.

As reported, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said thatUkraine will receive Patriot in the coming weeks. The transfer is currently being coordinated at the level of the defense ministries.

In addition, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is considering joining Germany in purchasing American weapons for transfer to Ukraine . Such a move should strengthen the defense capabilities of the country, which is fighting against Russian aggression.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

The US continues to support Ukraine in its war with Russia — Republicans failed to block the allocation of military aid to Kyiv.
