One of the drones hit a residential building in Zelenograd, causing a fire and panic among the population. The threat from the air caused airports to collapse: hundreds of flights were postponed, passengers spent the night on floors and artificial lawns.

This is reported by Russian media.

On the night of July 20, drones carried out a massive raid on the Russian capital. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Russian air defense systems opened fire as early as 6:00 p.m. on July 19, and in total more than 20 drones were shot down over the Moscow region. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the destruction of 19 drones, 16 of which were headed directly for Moscow.

According to Russian authorities, one of the drones hit a residential building in Zelenograd, there was no serious damage, no injuries were reported, but two cars caught fire near the building. This is the second such large-scale attack in recent months – the previous time a similar number of drones were shot down on May 6, on the eve of Victory Day.

Due to the air alert, restrictions were imposed on the work of major Russian airports: Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky for several hours. The restrictions also affected air traffic in Nizhny Novgorod, Kaluga and Yaroslavl. Rosaviatsia explained that such actions are necessary for flight safety.

Russian airlines, including Aeroflot and Pobeda, were forced to massively change their schedules, cancel flights — including two to Minsk — and divert planes to alternate airports. More than 130 aircraft were diverted to other airports, including St. Petersburg.

As a result, thousands of passengers were stranded in the terminals. Videos from Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo appeared on the Internet, where people were sleeping on the floor and artificial grass. Eyewitnesses reported that many flights from Turkey were not allowed to Moscow. For example, a plane from Antalya landed at Pulkovo, where passengers were disembarked without any explanation or assistance. According to them, airline representatives did not appear, people were left without water, food and accommodation.

As of midday on July 20, restrictions at airports are gradually being lifted, but schedules remain disrupted. After a temporary return to normal operations at Sheremetyevo, restrictions were reintroduced at 12:30, which were later lifted at Vnukovo as well.

Recall that the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with 57 drones , of which 18 were shot down, and another 7 were lost in location.

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

On the night of July 20, Moscow suffered another large-scale drone attack.
