Berlin confirmed its readiness to help Ukraine strengthen its air defense. During a meeting in the Ramstein format, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that his country, together with the United States, will participate in the supply of five additional Patriot systems. The agreements were reached last week in Washington with Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the next meeting in the Ramstein format on July 21, 2025, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that Ukraine would receive additional Patriot air defense systems, as well as ammunition for them.<\/p>\n

In particular, Germany will join a broad coalition of partners forming a “shield for Ukraine” to protect it from daily massive strikes by Russian drones and missiles.<\/p>\n

“Germany will provide additional air defense systems and the necessary ammunition,” Pistorius said at a briefing.<\/p>\n

It is noted that last week Pistorius visited Washington, where he held talks with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The main topic was the supply of five Patriot systems, which Ukraine now desperately needs.<\/p>\n

“I have agreed with Pete Hegseth that Germany will join in providing five urgently needed Patriot systems as soon as possible,” the German minister noted.<\/p>\n

Pistorius stressed that the details of logistics and supplies would be agreed upon in the coming days in coordination with the United States. Everything should be done “in a spirit of mutual trust,” which is how he described the communication between the allies.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Patriot air defense system, which Germany plans to pay for to be transferred to Ukraine, is currently being finalized and will be ready no earlier than in 6\u20138 months.<\/a><\/p>\n

Recall, US President Donald Trump announced that the first batches of Patriot anti-aircraft systems have already been sent to partner countries, which will later transfer them to Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n
