Central European Petroleum announced confirmed reserves of 22 million tons of crude oil and 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The discovery could significantly change the energy map of the region and increase Poland&#8217;s independence from energy imports.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This is reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/businessinsider.com.pl\/wiadomosci\/odkryto-najwieksze-zloze-ropy-w-polsce\/drywhe3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Business Insider Polska.<\/a><\/p>\n<p> A new large-scale oil and natural gas field has been discovered in the Wolin East 1 (WE1) well, which was drilled offshore in northwestern Poland, six kilometers from the Baltic Sea coast, near the city of \u015awinouj\u015bcie.<\/p>\n<p> The project operator, Central European Petroleum (CEP), has declared the field the largest in Polish history and one of the most powerful in Europe over the past ten years.<\/p>\n<p> It is noted that the confirmed reserves amount to 22 million tons of crude oil and 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas.<\/p>\n<p> According to preliminary data from the Energy Policy Center, the estimated potential volumes are over 33 million tons of oil and up to 27 billion cubic meters of gas.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;This is a historic moment for the Polish energy sector. Wolin East is not just a discovery, it is the beginning of a new era in the use of the energy potential of the Baltic Sea,&#8221; said CEP President Rolf G. Skaar.<\/p>\n<p> According to Poland&#8217;s chief geologist, Krzysztof Galosz, the discovered deposit paves the way for strengthening the country&#8217;s energy security and reducing dependence on hydrocarbon imports, in particular from Russia and the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p> Before starting full-scale industrial production at the ShCN deposit, it is necessary to:<\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li> Complete geological documentation;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> Conduct additional technical research;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> Obtain all necessary government permits.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p> In the context of energy turbulence in Europe, this discovery is of strategic importance not only for Poland, but also for the entire region.
