France insists that no peace talks can take place in conditions of active hostilities, and that dialogue must be based on mutual respect, not ultimatums.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot during a joint briefing with Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.<\/p>\n

Barro stressed that Russia continues to make maximalist demands, which effectively blocks the peace process. He recalled that five months ago, Ukraine expressed its readiness to support an unconditional ceasefire for a period of 30 days – this was a reaction to the American initiative. However, Moscow has not yet provided an official response.<\/p>\n

“Negotiations should not be dictated by one side. They are only possible when there is a ceasefire. You cannot negotiate while the shelling continues,” the French diplomat emphasized.<\/p>\n

Barrot also recalled the events of 2022, when attempts were made to establish a negotiation process, but it was disrupted by mass crimes committed by Russian troops in Bucha and Izyum. According to him, these tragedies demonstrated the lack of sincere intention for dialogue on the part of the Kremlin.<\/p>\n

“We remember well what those negotiations looked like. They were stopped not only by shelling, but also by shocking war crimes that opened the eyes of the whole world,” the minister noted.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting in Kyiv with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot. The talks focused on strengthening the air defense system, drone production in Ukraine, military training, and integration into the EU.<\/a> France condemned Russia’s latest attacks on Kyiv and declared its readiness to exert further pressure on the Kremlin.<\/p>\n
