On the night of Tuesday, July 22, a strike was carried out on a facility in the Russian Federation that is of strategic importance for the country’s defense-industrial sector. This is the Novokuibyshevsk petrochemical plant, located in the Samara region. This plant, according to Ukrainian sources, produces chemicals that are later used in the manufacture of explosives for the Russian army.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was reported by<\/a> the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CDC), Andriy Kovalenko.<\/p>\n

Russian authorities have limited themselves to discreet comments. The regional governor, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, said that on the morning of July 22, drones allegedly tried to attack one of the region’s industrial enterprises. According to him, the drones were destroyed by air defense systems, there were no casualties, and the facility was not damaged. At the same time, local authorities temporarily turned off the mobile Internet, explaining this by the need to ensure the effective work of military units.<\/p>\n

The Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation reported otherwise. According to the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, this is the Novokuybyshevsk Petrochemical Plant. It specializes in the production of substances used to create military explosives. In particular, the plant produces benzene, acetone, phenol, ethyl alcohol and other chemical compounds, from which explosives such as TNT, hexogen and tetryl are made. These components are further used in artillery ammunition, missiles, air bombs and cluster charges. According to data released by Kovalenko, the plant processes up to one million tons of the relevant raw materials every year.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on the night of July 20, Moscow was subjected to another large-scale drone attack<\/a> . One of the drones hit a residential building in Zelenograd, causing a fire and panic among the population. Due to the threat from the air, airports were in an aviation collapse: hundreds of flights were postponed, passengers spent the night on floors and artificial lawns.<\/p>\n

As reported, explosions were heard in several regions of Russia<\/a> on the night of Friday, July 18. The sounds of the explosions were heard in the Moscow region, Oryol and Nizhny Novgorod regions.<\/p>\n
