Most of them spread narratives supporting the governments of both countries while attacking Western democracies and Ukraine. The removals were part of a broader crackdown on global disinformation led by Google’s Threat Analysis Group.

This is reported by CNBC .

It is noted that between April and June 2025, Google, through its Threat Analysis Group security analytics team, removed nearly 11,000 YouTube channels and accounts that were actively participating in information influence campaigns on behalf of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.

Chinese vector:

7.7 thousand accounts were linked to the Chinese propaganda network.

They distributed content in Chinese and English.

Main messages: support for the Chinese government, glorification of Xi Jinping, anti-Western narratives, in particular against US policy.

Russian vector:

More than 2,000 accounts acted in the interests of the Kremlin.

Their content promoted Russian narratives and criticized Ukraine, NATO, and Western countries.

Particular attention was paid to the depreciation of Western support for Ukraine in the context of a full-scale war.

In May 2025, Google also reportedly exposed and dismantled a propaganda network linked to the Russian state media outlet RT (Russia Today):

20 YouTube channels, 4 advertising accounts, and a Blogger blog were deleted.

The content was financed through the American firm Tenent Media from Tennessee.

The production was carried out by conservative bloggers who publicly supported Donald Trump.

At the same time, Google reported the detection of similar information operations from other countries, including: Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, Israel, Romania, Ghana. Some networks were engaged in disinformation about the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Thus, in the first quarter of 2025, more than 23 thousand accounts were deleted that were also involved in the manipulation of public opinion. Meta (Facebook/Instagram) reported the removal of 10 million fake profiles that posed as popular content creators.

The mass purge of accounts is a sign of the growing scale of information warfare, in which authoritarian governments try to influence public opinion in other countries — often through fronts, platforms, and influencers. Google and other tech giants are increasingly active in countering such campaigns by blocking access to global audiences. The case also confirms that information security is a new front in the fight for democracy.

It was previously reported that Russia is actively building a network of state propaganda on the African continent . According to the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Kremlin’s information expansion covers more than 40 countries, six languages, and includes both RT and TASS broadcasting and the “re-education” of local journalists in the spirit of Kremlin rhetoric.

We will remind you that the US has liquidated a Center that exposed the propaganda of authoritarian regimes, in particular the Russian one . Such a center was called a “threat to freedom of speech.”

Also follow “Pryamim” on Facebook , Twitter , Telegram , and Instagram.

In the second quarter of 2025, YouTube removed nearly 11,000 accounts linked to state-run propaganda campaigns in Russia and China.
