Military commentator Hamish de Bretton-Gordon said that Europe has lost focus on the war in Ukraine, shifting to other geopolitical crises. Trump’s ultimatum has only created the false impression of an end to the war, while Russia continues to escalate and prepares for new strikes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is noted that after Donald Trump issued a 50-day ultimatum to Vladimir Putin regarding the war in Ukraine, Western politics began to demonstrate alarming indifference to events on the front.<\/p>\n

According to Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, many European leaders have mistakenly concluded that the war is coming to an end, when in fact Moscow is only escalating its aggression. This is especially noticeable against the backdrop of the shift in the information focus to the conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n

“The eyes of the whole world are focused anywhere but on the most dangerous situation on the planet right now: the war in Ukraine,” the author emphasizes.<\/p>\n

The expert sharply criticizes the British political class for indifference and complacency, in particular due to the summer holiday season, which has become more important than security strategy. He emphasizes that Putin is currently the only one systematically and strategically engaged in war, while the West gives him the initiative.<\/p>\n

De Bretton-Gordon warns that in the coming weeks, Russia may significantly intensify its attacks on Ukraine. According to him, the Russian army is already launching up to 500 Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones every day, and the potential for this threat to scale is only growing. At the same time, the expert emphasizes that Western intelligence knows the location of the factories producing these UAVs, and Ukraine must have the means to destroy them.<\/p>\n

In addition, the analyst calls on Western governments to increase the volume of arms supplies to Kyiv. He is convinced that delay allows the Russian army to advance, kill civilians and deport Ukrainian children.<\/p>\n

“We must not give the Russian military freedom of maneuver for the next five weeks,” he notes.<\/p>\n

As additional measures, the expert suggests creating a “coalition of the willing” that could partially close the skies over Ukrainian cities, at least over Kyiv and Lviv, with NATO aviation forces. This, in his opinion, would be a clear signal to the Kremlin and a deterrent that cannot be interpreted as direct NATO participation in hostilities.<\/p>\n

“If we don’t take action now, war could engulf all of Europe this summer. And therefore, next summer, no one will have anywhere to go on vacation,” the columnist summarized.<\/p>\n
