Another ship has changed course and canceled a scheduled fuel loading at the Indian refinery Nayara Energy, which has been hit by European Union sanctions. This is the second time in a short period that a tanker has refused to cooperate with a company linked to Russian business.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reuters reports<\/a> this.<\/p>\n

The vessel in question is the Chang Hang Xing Yun, which, according to shipping industry sources and the LSEG tracking system, is now set to load approximately 35,000 tons of diesel fuel from Kuwait on August 1. The tanker will then head towards East Africa.<\/p>\n

The Chang Hang Xing Yun was previously scheduled to receive its cargo at Nayara Energy’s plant in the Indian port of Vadinar between July 29 and 31. From there, the fuel was to be shipped either to Southeast Asian countries or to Bangladesh’s Chittagong port. The cargo was chartered by PetroChina.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Talara oil tanker, which was supposed to deliver diesel fuel to Africa, unexpectedly left the Indian port of Vadinar without cargo<\/a> . The vessel was chartered by energy company BP, and the very low-sulfur diesel was supposed to come from the Nayara Energy plant, a company with Russian ties.<\/p>\n

As reported, EU ambassadors have approved a new, eighteenth package of sanctions against Russia. This package focuses on reducing the maximum price for Russian oil, as well as adding to the sanctions list more than a hundred vessels that are part of the Russian Federation’s so-called “shadow fleet” – ships that help circumvent international restrictions.<\/a><\/p>\n
