A special plant protection regime was introduced in the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions due to the spread of migratory and Egyptian locusts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Zaporizhia region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Since July 15, the Kushugumsky village council has introduced a special plant protection regime on an area of more than 21.6 thousand hectares<\/strong> . To coordinate actions, a headquarters was created with the participation of local authorities, farmers, the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, and rescuers.
The main food source for locusts is reeds and wild grasses. Industrial crops have not yet suffered significant losses. Active treatment of territories, including non-agricultural ones, continues.<\/p>\n

Kherson region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A special regime has been in effect here since June 23. Locust outbreaks have been localized and eliminated over an area of almost 300 hectares<\/strong> , of which 27 hectares are sunflower crops.
According to the results of inspections, locusts were not found in the treated areas. Their numbers remain within the economically safe limits. Regional monitoring continues, and the possibility of lifting the regime is being considered.<\/p>\n

Odessa region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Due to the spread of locusts in the southern regions of Moldova, surveillance has been intensified in the Odessa region. In early July, the migration of the pest was recorded in the Bolgrad region in the fields after the harvest of rapeseed, wheat and barley. The stubble was treated with insecticides permitted in accordance with Ukrainian regulations.
However, a special regime has not yet been introduced \u2013 the locust population threshold has not been exceeded.<\/p>\n

Dnepropetrovsk region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There have been reports of isolated cases of locusts appearing here, and surveys are ongoing.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection calls on all locust cells to be immediately reported to the territorial bodies of the service and to immediately carry out treatment<\/strong> with approved insecticides.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Let us recall that a massive invasion of locusts has been recorded in Dnipropetrovsk region, which is approaching from the dried-up Kakhovka reservoir. The insects have affected fields in Kherson, Zaporizhia, Odessa and Vinnytsia regions. Due to the heat and drought, locusts are rapidly multiplying, attacking sunflower crops and can destroy up to 100% of the harvest.<\/a><\/p>\n
