In less than a month, 2,285 clergymen and leaders of religious organizations have undergone the procedure of being reserved from mobilization.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolicy and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) reported this, Interfax<\/a> -Ukraine reports.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“On June 27, 2025, the Department of State Security began the process of booking clergymen who are leaders of religious organizations. As of today, 2,285 people have already completed the procedure,” the department noted.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Department of Economic Security and Social Protection also recalled that 7,726 religious organizations have the status of being critically important for ensuring the life of the population and the economy during a special period.<\/p>\n

The Cabinet of Ministers provided for a reservation mechanism for clergy on December 26, 2024. According to the government decree, reservations are subject to those clergy who occupy positions from a special list approved by the State Service of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the requirement regarding the minimum salary of 20 thousand hryvnias, which applies to employees of enterprises recognized as critically important, does not apply to religious organizations as legal entities.<\/p>\n

On February 5, the State Ethnopolicy adopted criteria by which religious organizations are determined that are important for the functioning of the country in wartime, and also approved a list of positions subject to reservation.<\/p>\n

On June 6, a list of 7,726 religious organizations falling under this category was officially approved.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In addition, the DESS announced its intention to initiate the creation of a mechanism that would allow clergy to remain abroad for a long time for the purpose of pastoral care of Ukrainian refugees.<\/p>\n
