How China views Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine will have a key impact on the EU’s future relations with China.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at a briefing in Beijing following the EU-China summit.<\/p>\n

“As the world’s two largest powers, the EU and China share a shared responsibility for upholding international norms and rules and respecting institutions, which is why we are raising the critical issue of China’s support for Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine,” von der Leyen said.<\/p>\n

She noted that the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine is the largest since the end of World War II on the European continent and has a direct impact on the security and stability of the EU.<\/p>\n

EU leaders, in meetings with Chinese leaders, expressed expectations that Beijing would take into account the concerns of Europeans, and that it would use its influence to force Russia to agree to a ceasefire, sit down at the negotiating table, start real peace talks, and put an end to the bloodshed.<\/p>\n

“How China continues to engage with Putin’s war will be a defining factor for our future relationship,” she stressed.<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that, despite Western sanctions, Russia continues to receive components for combat drones from China<\/a> – primarily engines, which are supplied disguised as refrigeration equipment.<\/p>\n
