The next targets of Bankova may be independent information resources and the military, which express a position inconvenient for the authorities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZtIa2YfML2Y\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was stated<\/a> on the air of &#8220;Pryamoy&#8221; by Oleksandr Pohrebysky, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council from the &#8220;European Solidarity&#8221; faction.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;We saw all those rallies in recent days, we saw how the law was adopted with lightning speed, literally in less than a day, on the destruction of the independence of the SAPO and NABU, which is essentially one of the requirements for visa-free travel from the European Union. We saw how quickly, literally in a matter of minutes, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada signed it so that no one had time to introduce a blocking resolution. This is ridiculous, and society is simply&#8230; the boiling point has already been passed,&#8221; the Kyiv City Council deputy noted.<\/p>\n<p> According to Pogrebysky, the same story happened with the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, when &#8220;a decision on the adoption of sanctions is made at lightning speed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;So lightning fast that even from a procedural point of view&#8230; and we live in a democratic country, and procedure is a defining criterion for any democratic country and its observance. For example, here, decisions are made in the NSDC apparatus with an error in the text, which affects the very essence of the decision. In essence, it indicates identifying things that speak about other people than those specified in the decree. The president signs it, then they change all of it, violating the procedure, violating the Constitution and the law,&#8221; the military man explains.<\/p>\n<p> According to him, the next target could be other individuals who &#8220;help maintain the independence of information resources.&#8221; &#8220;This could be Tomasz Fiala, who is the owner of &#8220;Novy Vremya&#8221; and &#8220;Ukrainian Truth.&#8221; And then there will be military personnel who, like me, allow themselves to go on air and tell some truth that will not be beneficial to the authorities,&#8221; the studio guest said.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;It is a great pity that our Western partners are watching all this, and the actions of the authorities influence the point of view that is being formed in this process. And it is their actions that harm our European integration, harm our development, and perhaps can harm the assistance that we are currently receiving, which is very important and necessary for our army,&#8221; Oleksiy Pogrebysky emphasized.<\/p>\n\t\t<aside class=\"shortcode-also\" data-title=\"Read also\" data-right>\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/speeches-at-frankos-theater-an-attempt-at-political-science-analysis\/\">Franko\u2019s Stage as a Political Arena: A Theatrical Turn in Ukraine\u2019s Civic Discourse<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\n<p> As a reminder, on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada voted for a bill that <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/deputaty-pidtrymaly-zakon-pro-pidporiadkovunnia-nabu-i-sap-henprokuroru\/\">significantly limits the powers of<\/a> the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor&#8217;s Office (SAP), effectively subordinating their activities to the Prosecutor General, and Volodymyr Zelenskyy <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/prezydent-pidpysav-zakon-pro-zminu-povnovazhen-nabu-ta-sap\/\">signed it.<\/a><\/p>\n<p> The Verkhovna Rada\u2019s support for draft law No. 12414, which effectively deprives the SAPO of its independence and may limit the powers of the NABU, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/yes-sturbovanyy-likvidatsiieiu-nezalezhnosti-antykoruptsiynykh-orhaniv-detali\/\">has raised serious concerns in the European Union<\/a> . This decision will affect the annual assessment of Ukraine\u2019s progress towards EU membership, which the European Commission will publish in October.<\/p>\n<p> In addition, US Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Lindsey Graham <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/zakon-shchodo-nabu-ta-sap-pidryvaie-prohres-borotby-iz-koruptsiieiu-senatory-shakhin-ta-hrem\/\">expressed concern<\/a> about a law recently passed in Ukraine, which they said weakens the independence of anti-corruption institutions by subordinating them to the Prosecutor General.<\/p>\n<p> It is worth noting that society negatively perceived the actual destruction of anti-corruption bodies. On July 22 and 23, hundreds of people in many cities <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/ni-koruptsii-u-vladi-u-bahatokh-mistakh-ukrainy-prokhodiat-mitynhy-proty-zakonu-shchodo-nabu-ta-sap\/\">of Ukraine took to rallies<\/a> against Law No. 12414.<\/p>\n<p> Subsequently, President of Ukraine Volodymyr <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/poverne-povnovazhennia-ta-nezalezhnist-zelenskyy-vnis-do-rady-zakonoproiekt-shchodo-nabu-ta-sap\/\">Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a law on \u201cstrengthening the powers of the NABU and the SAPO\u201d<\/a> . The document stipulates that the Prosecutor General and his deputies do not have the right to give instructions to prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor&#8217;s Office.
