One of Russia’s most important airports, Domodedovo, is on the verge of bankruptcy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> the new head of Domodedovo, Andrey Ivanov.<\/p>\n

Domodedovo’s total debt has reached 70 billion rubles. Because of this, meetings are being held with creditors on debt restructuring issues.<\/p>\n

“The debt arose due to a drop in passenger traffic and profits, an increase in losses, despite which costs were not reduced and the efficiency of operational activities was not increased,” Ivanov explained.<\/p>\n

In previous years, the number of airport passengers was almost 20 million, but in 2024 the figure decreased by 5 million. In 2025 it may decrease by another 2 million. Currently, Domodedovo’s passenger traffic is at least half the maximum.<\/p>\n

The airport is also consistently losing profits, which have fallen to 30 billion rubles, which is 4 less than in previous years.<\/p>\n

“The loss in 2023 reached almost 7 billion rubles, in 2024 – 7.2 billion, and this year it will grow to 10 billion. Another approximately 650 million rubles is the current accounts payable of the group’s enterprises and approximately the same amount is salary debts,” Ivanov noted.<\/p>\n

By the way, the collapse of civil aviation in Russia, which occurred on July 5-6, could have caused losses of up to 20 billion rubles to the Russian economy.<\/a><\/p>\n

Recall that inflation in Russia in the first week of July reached 0.79%, which was a record weekly increase since the spring of 2022 – that’s when prices skyrocketed amid panic about the economic crisis and the devaluation of the ruble.<\/a> During periods of active inflation acceleration at the end of last year and the beginning of this year, weekly growth did not exceed 0.5%.<\/p>\n
