Germany has already transferred more than 60 Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery units to Ukraine and will soon send another IRIS-T anti-aircraft system.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was announced by the Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany, Alexey Makeyev, speaking to journalists in Kiev, Interfax-Ukraine reports.<\/a><\/p>\n

“We were supplied with more than 60 Gepards. That is, most of the cheetahs that could have been caught in the forests of the world have already been caught, and they are grazing on Ukrainian pastures,” the diplomat jokingly noted.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

According to him, the German Gepards have proven themselves in combat conditions, especially in the fight against kamikaze drones like the Shahed<\/em> . Makeyev also noted the effectiveness of the Skynex system from Rheinmetall<\/em> , which is already in operation in the Ukrainian Air Force.<\/p>\n

The ambassador reported that Ukraine and Germany are actively working on further supplies of air defense systems. Moreover, joint projects for the production of air defense systems are being discussed.<\/p>\n

“There are already initial ideas between representatives of the defense industry of Ukraine and Germany – to jointly build additional air defense systems. For example, take a Rheinmetall cannon, install it on another chassis and supplement it with missile components,” Makeyev explained.<\/p>\n

He also noted that IRIS-T transmissions are taking place regularly: \u201cSeven systems have already arrived, and the eighth is on its way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Let us recall that the US State Department has approved two new military aid packages for Ukraine<\/a> . One of them concerns the HAWK air defense systems, the other one concerns the restoration of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles. The total cost of both packages exceeds $320 million.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Cabinet of Ministers announced the launch of a grant competition to launch a full cycle of explosives production within the country<\/a> . The initiative is being implemented through the Brave1 platform.<\/p>\n
