Russia is feigning readiness for peace, mocking diplomacy and continuing to launch air strikes on Ukraine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by<\/a> the UK’s representative to the UN, Barbara Woodward, on the eve of a meeting of the UN Security Council.<\/p>\n

“Russia is ‘mocking’ the diplomacy it claims to support. Moscow has a ‘clear and unconditional’ obligation to abide by the UN Charter, as well as the Geneva Conventions,” Woodward said.<\/p>\n

She also emphasized that dictator Putin wants to continue the war, despite the efforts of world leaders to stop it.<\/p>\n

Woodward noted that from July 18 to 23, the Russian Federation launched more than 940 drones and 59 missiles at Ukrainian cities, killing 20 civilians and wounding 216.<\/p>\n

“Just a few days before, a record 728 strike UAVs were launched over Ukraine in one day,” she said.<\/p>\n

Woodward said that more than 13,000 civilians have been killed and 34,000 injured since the start of the full-scale invasion.<\/p>\n

“Behind every Russian strike is a person, a family, a community, whose lives have been torn apart by Russia’s brutal military invasion… There is simply no justification for such brutal aggression,” the diplomat said.<\/p>\n

Woodward called on Russia to agree to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire as a first step towards a just and lasting peace.<\/p>\n

Earlier it became known that the United Kingdom joined the EU energy sanctions on Russia. London reduced the ceiling price for Russian oil from 60 to 47 dollars per barrel<\/a> .<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that the United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on the Russian GRU for conducting a long-term campaign of cyber activity and a number of war crimes<\/a> .<\/p>\n
