Lithuania plans to facilitate the purchase of American long-range Patriot air defense systems for Ukraine, allocating up to 30 million euros for this.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This was stated by the country’s Minister of Defense Dovil\u0117 \u0160akalien\u0117 after a meeting of the Baltic defense ministers with the head of the Pentagon, Piet Hegseth, LRT<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

According to \u0160akaliene, Vilnius expresses its readiness to support the acquisition of weapons produced in the United States, including Patriot systems, which provide strategically important assistance to Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith this contribution, we are also sending a clear signal that we welcome President Trump\u2019s initiative,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Lithuania is thus joining the efforts of its European allies, who are planning to finance the purchase of modern air defense systems to protect Ukrainian skies from Russian attacks.<\/p>\n

By the way, the Patriot air defense system, which Germany plans to pay for transfer to Ukraine, is currently being finalized and will not be ready for at least 6-8 months.<\/a><\/p>\n

Let us recall that US President Donald Trump announced that the first batches of Patriot anti-aircraft systems have already been sent to partner countries, which will subsequently transfer them to Ukraine.<\/a><\/p>\n
