{"id":1272463,"date":"2025-07-28T11:49:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T08:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/ukraines-public-debt-has-increased-by-billions-what-does-this-mean\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T11:49:43","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T08:49:43","slug":"ukraines-public-debt-has-increased-by-billions-what-does-this-mean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/ukraines-public-debt-has-increased-by-billions-what-does-this-mean\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine&#8217;s public debt has increased by billions: what does this mean?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In June, Ukraine&#8217;s total public debt reached $184.84 billion, an increase of $3.88 billion over the month.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/mof.gov.ua\/uk\/derzhavnij-borg-ta-garantovanij-derzhavju-borg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">was reported<\/a> by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p> On June 30, 2025, Ukraine&#8217;s national debt amounted to UAH 7,696.95 billion, or USD 184.84 billion.<\/p>\n<p> The Ministry of Finance noted that in June 2025, the amount of Ukraine&#8217;s state and state-guaranteed debt increased by 181.73 billion hryvnias.<\/p>\n<p> In particular, state and state-guaranteed external debt totals 5,775 billion hryvnias, which is 75% of the total debt.<\/p>\n<p> State and state-guaranteed domestic debt amounts to UAH 1,921 billion, which is 25% of the total debt.<\/p>\n<p> The increase in public debt negatively affects the country&#8217;s economy due to:<\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li> rising debt service costs;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> increased dependence on external creditors;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> decline in investor confidence;<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p> It was previously reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/yevrokomisiia-urizala-transh-ukraini-3-05-miliarda-ievro-zamist-4-5-cherez-nevykonani-reformy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the new tranche of financial assistance under the Ukraine Facility program will be allocated to Ukraine in a smaller amount than planned<\/a> due to the failure to implement 3 of the 16 reforms promised by the EU.<\/p>\n<p> It is worth noting that <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/infliatsiia-ta-spovilnennia-zrostu-vvp-natsbank-suttievo-pohirshyv-ekonomichnyy-prohnoz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the National Bank has worsened the economic forecast.
