The Verkhovna Rada should adopt the draft law on NABU and SAPO as soon as possible to correct the mistakes made during the previous vote. However, some provisions in the new presidential document will need to be changed, in particular regarding lie detector tests.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This opinion was expressed<\/a> on the air of “Pryamoy” by Andriy Magera, an expert at the Center for Political and Legal Reforms.<\/p>\n

“I really hope that on July 31, there will be 226 votes in the Verkhovna Rada hall for the presidential bill, which is far from ideal, but even it should be voted for. If the people’s deputies do not understand this, unfortunately, it will be worse not only for them, but also for the entire country… The presidential bill returns the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code that were there before. But there are some strange things there that should not be. However, I hope that they can be changed in the future,” said Magera.<\/p>\n

The expert called the norm on regular polygraph or “lie detector” tests for representatives of anti-corruption bodies one of such “strange things.”<\/p>\n
