Today, July 29, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on military service under contract for persons who have reached the maximum age for military service.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is stated<\/a> in the law card on the Verkhovna Rada website.<\/p>\n

In particular, the law allows persons who have reached the maximum age, but are ready to continue serving due to health reasons, to enter into a contract for military service.<\/p>\n

Such citizens of Ukraine may, at their own request, be re-registered for military service if they have written consent from the commander of the military unit to accept them for military service under a contract.<\/p>\n

Such persons will be able to serve in the positions of privates, sergeants, petty officers, as well as junior and senior officers (provided that the persons were dismissed from service after January 1, 2015).<\/p>\n

To appoint such a person to an officer position, the consent of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is required.<\/p>\n

The contract term is 1 year, with the possibility of extension.<\/p>\n

At the same time, a probationary period of two months is established. The contract may be terminated if the serviceman fails or is found to be unsuitable for the service.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also signed a law introducing mandatory military training for students of higher education medical institutions<\/a> .<\/p>\n
