The danger extends to several countries in the Pacific region.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> According <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/environment\/powerful-quake-russias-far-east-causes-tsunami-japan-hawaii-order-evacuations-2025-07-30\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to<\/a> Reuters, Russian emergency services confirmed the appearance of waves 3-4 meters high on the coast of Kamchatka. According to the Minister of Emergency Situations Sergei Lebedev, the tremors hit several settlements. The governor of the region, Vladimir Solodov, called the earthquake &#8220;the most powerful in recent decades&#8221;, adding that among the damaged facilities was a kindergarten. There are also reports of injuries.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-1273394-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/b478cba1-mobile.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/b478cba1-mobile.mp4\">https:\/\/prm.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/b478cba1-mobile.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p> According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the event was located 126 km southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of almost 20 km. The initial magnitude estimate was 8.0, but it was later increased to 8.8.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>The first tsunami waves have already reached the coasts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> As of the morning of July 30, tsunami waves were confirmed to have already covered parts of the northern coast of Japan, including the island of Hokkaido, where waves reached heights of up to 40 centimeters. Rising water levels were also recorded near the American island of Amchitka in Alaska.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Tsunami threatens dozens of countries and regions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> According to CNN, a tsunami warning has been issued for much of the Pacific Ocean, from Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia to Hawaii, the west coast of the United States and Canada, as well as South American countries such as Chile, Peru and Ecuador. The warning also covers the US territories of Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa.<\/p>\n<p> The Japanese government has urged residents of potentially dangerous areas to evacuate, as the local meteorological service predicts that wave heights could reach up to 3 meters.<\/p>\n<p> In Hawaii, Governor Josh Green warned of the threat of flooding for all coastal areas.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;A tsunami is not a single wave that will cover one beach. It will cover all the islands. Evacuate immediately,&#8221; he urged.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>International reaction: US steps up monitoring<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> The threat has already been responded to in the United States. The National Weather Service predicts that the highest waves \u2014 up to 3 meters or more \u2014 could cover northwestern Hawaii, parts of Russia, and Ecuador.<\/p>\n<p> US President Donald Trump wrote in his post on the Truth Social platform: &#8220;After a strong earthquake in the Pacific Ocean, a tsunami warning is in effect for residents of Hawaii. Monitoring is also underway for Alaska and the entire West Coast.
