{"id":1273656,"date":"2025-07-30T14:20:54","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T11:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/over-10-000-chemical-attacks-sbu-reports-large-scale-use-of-banned-weapons-by-russians\/"},"modified":"2025-07-30T14:20:54","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T11:20:54","slug":"over-10-000-chemical-attacks-sbu-reports-large-scale-use-of-banned-weapons-by-russians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prm.ua\/en\/over-10-000-chemical-attacks-sbu-reports-large-scale-use-of-banned-weapons-by-russians\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 10,000 chemical attacks: SBU reports large-scale use of banned weapons by Russians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the SBU has documented more than 10,000 chemical attacks by Russians against the Ukrainian military<\/strong> .<\/p>\n<p> This <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/SBUkr\/15455\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">was reported<\/a> by the press service of the Security Service.<\/p>\n<p> According to the SBU, the Russians used:<\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li> K-51 aerosol grenades;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> RGR and RG-Vo are equipped with toxic substances with irritating effects;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> ampoules with the poisonous substance chloropicrin.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p> &#8220;The use of such means of warfare is prohibited by the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction of January 13, 1993,&#8221; the SBU noted.<\/p>\n<p> The Russians use the largest number of chemical munitions in the form of &#8220;drops&#8221; from drones onto defensive positions of the SOU. The toxic substances affect the mucous membranes, primarily the eyes and respiratory organs.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;In this way, the enemy is trying to force the soldiers of the Defense Forces to come out of the trenches and dugouts under the aimed fire of the occupiers,&#8221; the SBU emphasized.<\/p>\n<p> The largest number of cases of the use of such weapons by the Russian military were recorded on the Eastern Front.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;In order to document and hold Russians accountable for these crimes, the SBU not only investigates its own criminal proceedings, but also involves specialized international organizations in documenting these facts,&#8221; the special service noted.<\/p>\n<p> It is known that the EU Council has imposed sanctions against Russian units that are part of the Russian armed forces and are involved in the development and use of chemical weapons.<\/p>\n<p> In particular, the following were subject to EU restrictions:<\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li> troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection of the Russian Federation;<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li> 27th Scientific Center 33rd Central Research and Testing Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p> The SBU noted that within the framework of a multi-episode criminal proceeding initiated by SBU investigators under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, an investigation is underway to hold the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation and all those involved accountable.<\/p>\n<p> Recall that, according to Dutch intelligence services, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/niderlandska-rozvidka-vykryla-masshtabne-zastosuvannia-rosiieiu-khimichnoi-zbroi-v-ukraini\/\">the Russian military is actively using chemical agents against Ukrainian defenders, in particular, dropping poisonous mixtures from drones to force soldiers out of fortifications.<\/a><\/p>\n<p> As reported, <a href=\"https:\/\/prm.ua\/pokarannia-za-vykorystannia-khimichnoi-zbroi-velyka-brytaniia-vvela-novi-sanktsii-proty-rf\/\">the United Kingdom has imposed new sanctions against the Russian Federation in response to the use of chemical weapons by Russian occupiers on the front, which is a violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.<\/a><\/p>\n<p> Also follow <strong>\u201cPryamim\u201d<\/strong> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pryamiy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Facebook<\/a> , <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/prm_ua\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Twitter<\/a> , <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/+rtV4dxYu2_cyNjVi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Telegram<\/a> , and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/pryamiy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Instagram<\/a> .<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the SBU has documented more than 10,000 chemical attacks by Russians against the Ukrainian military .
